Turkey’s SIPER‑2 long‑range air and missile defence system successfully intercepted a high‑speed maneuvering target during its latest live‑fire trial, achieving full operational capability. Developed jointly by ASELSAN, ROKETSAN and TÜBİTAK SAGE, SIPER‑2 forms the upper layer of Turkey’s national air‑defence network and can engage fighter jets, cruise missiles, drones, helicopters and precision‑guided munitions.

Compared with the over‑70 km range of SIPER‑1, the new system extends tracking beyond 150 km and can engage targets at altitudes of around 30 km. In the test it destroyed a Super Şimşek maneuvering target, confirming its readiness. SIPER‑2 can track up to 100 targets simultaneously, engage ten threats at once and guide up to 20 interceptors.
