State media in China released images of the DF-17 hypersonic missile system to mark the 60th anniversary of the People’s Liberation Army Rocket Force. The DF-17 combines a ballistic carrier with a hypersonic glide vehicle that separates at high speed, maneuvering toward its target and making interception difficult. It is designed to strike high‑value targets such as command centers, air bases, logistics hubs, hardened infrastructure, as well as large warships and carrier groups.
