Yair Lapid, leader of Israel’s opposition, said Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu presented a scenario to the United States in which the Iranian regime would collapse, but failed to warn of the associated risks. Lapid argued that Netanyahu ignored potential impacts on energy markets, the Strait of Hormuz, Lebanon, and, most importantly, admitted he did not know how to actually topple the regime. When the scenario did not materialise, Lapid said Netanyahu lost U.S. confidence amid the ongoing war.
