Weekly unemployment claims for the week ending June 6 rose slightly to 226,000, just above the forecast of 225,000 and down from 229,000 the previous week. Continuing jobless claims increased to 1.81 million, marginally above the 1.80 million expected and up from 1.795 million. The Philadelphia Fed's June manufacturing index jumped to 10.3, beating the 10 forecast and a sharp rise from a -0.4 reading in May. The Fed's June employment index rose to 7.9 from -2.8, while new orders surged to 27.3 from 1.7 in the prior month.
