At a recent exhibition, the latest version of the Leopard 2 A‑RC 3.0 was displayed, featuring a re‑arranged front hull armor layout and significantly modified turret armor. A new secondary remote‑controlled weapon station equipped with a 30 mm automatic cannon is now mounted on the turret. The gunner’s sight has been upgraded to the TrueHunter Gunner system from Thales, which uses artificial intelligence to automatically detect, track and classify threats. Additional optical sensors have been installed on the turret for target identification, and the Trophy active‑defence radar has been enhanced to better counter drone threats. The tank can also launch interceptor drones to engage suicide drones. Evidence suggests German planners intend to adapt the Leopard 2 A‑RC 3.0 chassis for a new European tank, with a possible 130 mm gun under consideration.
