German defense firms KNDS (German branch) and Rheinmetall have presented the MBT Vision 2032 (also called MARTE) program, intended to replace all Leopard 2 tanks across Europe. The new tank, slated for potential operational capability by 2032, will feature a three‑person crew housed in the hull and an unmanned turret equipped with a 130 mm gun and an automatic loader. While the turret appears to be the Leopard 2 A‑RC 3.0 model, the chassis and hull will be a completely new design from Rheinmetall, with details still pending. The program also includes a comprehensive protection suite, featuring anti‑drone capabilities that combine a new active defense system with a remote‑controlled weapon station to safeguard the vehicle against UAV attacks.
