The U.S. Air Force has chosen two contractors, General Atomics and Anduril, for its Combat‑Capable Aircraft (CCA) initiative. Two unmanned aerial vehicles, now designated FQ‑42A and FQ‑44A after removing the "Y" to indicate experimental status, will be produced with a minimum of 150 units for the Inc1 block by the end of the decade, with a total goal of over 1,000 aircraft across various versions. The current increment is expected to achieve a combat radius of about 700 nautical miles (1,300 km). While an exact price was not disclosed, estimates put the cost at roughly one‑third of a manned jet, around $30 million per unit, pending further details.
