Malaysia has officially signed a contract with French firm KNDS to purchase 18 Caesar 155 mm self‑propelled howitzers. The Caesar system, mounted on a truck chassis, offers high mobility and rapid shoot‑and‑move capability, which is valuable against counter‑battery fire and drones in modern conflicts. After evaluating options such as the US M109 and other European models, Malaysia chose the French system, becoming the 15th global customer and the third user in the Indo‑Pacific region after Indonesia and Thailand. The acquisition is part of a broader artillery modernization program for the Malaysian Army.
