The Wall Street Journal has published an analysis of a U.S. draft agreement with Iran. The proposal calls for the immediate reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and the full resumption of shipping traffic, a possible lifting of U.S. sanctions, and an instant exemption for Iranian oil exports and related financial services. It also includes a gradual release of Iran’s frozen assets, Iran’s commitment to forgo nuclear weapons, the removal of ballistic missile and regional militia issues from the initial negotiation framework, and at least $300 billion in economic and investment support for Iran’s reconstruction.
